General Membership Meeting September 28, 2000
The
next general membership will be held at Momoyama at the Princess Kaiulani
Hotel on September 28, 2000; 9:00 am to 1:00 pm. Speakers from Kaiser
and HMSA will make presentations. Members are urged to attend to
keep informed on various programs that deliver health benefits. Many
retired government workers are unaware that whereas their pensions are
guaranteed by the state constitution, health benefits are not.
It is important to keep abreast of proposed changes and make your feelings
known to your legislators.
Information
and reservation forms for this meeting will be in the mail in the near
future.

District News - 2000
June 5 A breakfast meeting
was held at the Pagoda Restaurant in one of the tea houses with both outgoing
and incoming officers and council members. The state officers were also
invited.
July 10 The Oahu board met to plan for the
year. Vice President Linda Mew offered her lovely home in Maunawili as
the meeting place as HSTA was in the midst of packing and moving to its
new location.
August 7 The Oahu board met at the new HSTA
building to finalize plans for our first membership meeting and to submit
articles for the first newsletter. We toured the new facilities on our
own.
August 24 The District Council will meet
to fold and mail the first Oahu newsletter of the year. (The HSTA-R membership
year is from September - August.)
September 28 The first general membership
meeting will be held at Momoyama in the Princess Kaiulani Hotel from 9:30
- 1:30 with lunch to be served at 12:00 noon. Speakers from Kaiser and
HMSA will present their health and drug plans and answer questions from
our members.
