MacTCP

The most recent version of MacTCP is 2.06. You should not use any versions older than the most recent.  If you have an older version numbered 2.0 or greater you need to obtain 2.06

 

Configuring MacTCP.

Configuring MacTCP on your Macintosh dsl configuration and dialup configuration

  1. Check to see if 2.0.6 is next to your more button
  2. Highlight   FreePPP or PPP icon and click more


[MAIN SETUP SCREEN OF MacTCP FOR TEXT BASED BROWSERS. The main setup screen for MacTCP contains four panes. The pane titled Obtain Address has choices for Manually, Server and Dynamically. The Routing Information pane has a box for filling in the Gateway Address. The IP Address pane has a large number of possible settings, but only the Class setting need be changed. The Domain Name Server Information pane is the most crucial to fill in. The most important box is the one asking for Domain Name Server Information. The first line of this should have, without the brackets, [louisville.edu] in the Domain column and [136.165.253.10] in the IP Address column. The first line should be selected as the Default. Be careful with the two periods in the Domain column entry. The second line should contain [.] in the Domain column and [136.165.253.10] in the IP Address column. The third line should contain [.] in the Domain column and [136.165.1.20] in the IP Address column.]

  1. In the obtain address box  click manually

  2. enter the gateway address 63.167.32.1

  3. click on the class box and change to C

  4. Type in poi.net in the domain box

  5. type in 63.167.32.3 in the first address box and select default

  6. type in 63.167.32.5 in the second address box

  7. select server in the obtain address box

  8. click ok

Free PPP setup (if you have config ppp then skip down to it below)

FreePPP



  1. Click the General tab Place an 'X' in the check line every 20 seconds and show alerts box
  2. Click the modem setup button.




  3. Make sure the settings above match yours on your computer then click ok
  4. Click on acounts




  5. Highlight poi then click edit button




  6. Make sure your picture looks like the above then click ok





  7. Set the port speed: to 57600 and set the flow control:' to CTS only.
  8. Click on the Options tab.



  9. Make your screen look like the picture above then click the ok button


Config PPP section



  1. Make sure your screen looks like the one above with the right items checked off. REMEMBER THIS SECTION PRETAINS TO CONFIGPPP only

click on the config button





  1. Make sure your setting are exactly as the picture above
  2. Click the Authentication button





  3. Make sure your setting are exactly as the picture above
  4. Click Ok
